According to Article 15, Transitional Provisions
“For domain name registrations that have expired before the publication of this regulation and which have not yet been cancelled, the domain name holder has to apply for the renewal of domain name registrations within 6 months from the publication of this regulation, otherwise such domain names will be cancelled immediately.”
For domain name registrations that have expired before the date of publication of the Regulation (22 August 2011) and which have not yet been cancelled, the domain name holders have to apply for the renewal of domain name registrations on or before 21 February 2012, otherwise such domain names will be cancelled on 22 February 2012.
MONIC had approached all the affected customers via phone call, email, postal or posting advertisement in the newspaper.Q: Domain has been ‘cancelled’, how can existing registrant use it again?
A: All existing registrant can apply for the same domain name again but they have to fulfill the existing regulation (Article 2, 3 and 5) and submit a new registration application
Q: Under what circumstance, the domain name can be used again by the existing registrant?
A: The existing registrant has to submit their registration application and provide related documents, then their domain will be released for use again. However, it will only be effective after 8 hours of the registration being completed.
According to Article 4, the duration of a domain name registration is one year, and may be renewed for an equal period.
