Guideline on Domain Name Registration of the Macao Special Administrative Region

Applicants who apply for domain names with the suffixes .mo, .com.mo, .net.mo, .org.mo, .edu.mo, .公司.mo, .網絡.mo, .組織.mo, .教育.mo, . 澳門, .公司.澳門, .網絡.澳門, .組織.澳門 and .教育.澳門, please apply as the following procedures. (The application for the registration of other Macao domain names in the public entities within the Macao SAR shall be submitted to SAFP.)

Applicants must first create a registration account on the MONIC website, this account, upon the activation, can be used for domain name application. This setup step serves for the purpose that users can better manage their domain names and applications. (Please refer to “ Creation of Registration Account” for more details.)

Creation of Registration Account

From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Signup”, read the signup regulation carefully and then click “Agree” to continue.
Fill the applicant information in the related fields (“*” are required fields) and click “Signup” after finish.
Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “.MO Registration Account Confirmation” will be sent to the email address you provided.
Check your mailbox and click the link on the email notification to activate your account. Meanwhile, another email notification with subject “Successful .MO Registration Account Creation” will be sent to you, which indicates your registration account has been created successfully and can be used for domain name application.

Domain Name Registration

From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login”, enter your profile/username, password and “Challenging Code” and then click the “Login” button to continue (If you do not have a registration account, please refer to “Creation of Registration Account” for more details.)
Select “Register Domain” from the pull down menu “Domain Management”.
From “Check Domain Availability” page, check your domain name. If shows” The domain name is available”, please click “Next Step” button. In “request domain” page, please enter the contact person information. Contact person information can be chosen and re-used from the associated pull down menu.
If the information is submitted successfully, you will be directed to “Request Successful” page. Click “Done” button to complete the online registration procedures. To upload required documents (within 1 year validity) immediately, please click “Attachment” button. Next, you can upload the required documents of domain name application through “My Domain Attachments” page, after finish, please click “Done” button to complete the online registration procedures, and then submit your required documents for application and payment within 8 days.(Some documents require the submission of paper or electronic form of domain name registration documents such as Letter of Confirmation [ DOC | PDF ] and Authorization Letter [ DOC | PDF ] (for third party handling of your application) can be uploaded for preliminary review before the submission of paper or electronic form of domain name registration documents).(please refer “Required Documentary Proof for Domain Name Registration” for detailed information.) The electronic submitter shall be in conformity with the qualified electronic signatures required by the existing laws of the Macao SAR.
Next, an email notification with subject “Domain Name Application Received” will be sent to the email address you provided to remind you for submitting the paper or electronic form of documents, signed Letter of Confirmation[ DOC | PDF ] and Authorization Letter (for third party handling of your application) [ DOC | PDF ]with the identification copy of the signatory. We will proceed with the application only when all required documents are received. The electronic submitter shall be in conformity with the qualified electronic signatures required by the existing laws of the Macao SAR.
After completing the steps above, if the domain name registration meet with the requirement in the Regulation, an email notification with subject “Please submit registration fee” will be sent to the email address you provided to notify you for submitting the domain name registration fee. If, within eight days from the date Macao Network Information Centre send out notification, we could not receive the payment, the domain name registration may be cancelled without any further notice. Prepare a cheque/bank draft payable to "Direcção dos Serviços de Correios e Telecomunicações", the registration fee for each domain name is MOP200 per year. And the bank charge for each oversea bank cheque / bank draft should be included in the payment (the amount of bank charge is subject to decision of receiving bank). Applicant can also pay by e-Payment online or visit the office and pay by CASH. Your request will be proceeded as soon as possible.
If domain name registration is approved, an email notification with subject “Domain Name Registration Approved” will be sent to your email address.

Domain Name Renewal

From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login”, enter your profile/username, password and “Challenging Code” and then click the “Login” button to continue (If the existing domain name you owned was registered before 15th November 2009, your domain name is the username. E.g. If your domain name is ABC.COM.MO, the username is also ABC.COM.MO, and the password is the same as the previous one. If you forgot profile/username, kindly contact MONIC; and if you forgot password, please refer to “Password Reset for Domain Name Registration Account”.)
After successful login, select “My Domain” from the pull down menu of “Domain Management”.
Select the domain name to be renewed and click on the “Renew” button.
Domain name registration is valid for THREE years only (associated fees are charged on a yearly basis), customer shall apply for renewal application every three years. Enter “Challenging Code”, click on the “Submit” button to finish your online renewal application.
After the online renewal application has been submitted, the page “Request Successful” will appear.
If you want to pay the renewal fee online, please click on the “Request ePayment” button, to enter the page “Apply for using the Electronic Payment Service”. By choosing “Yes”, your request will be sent to us for review. After reviewed, a notification email with subject “Domain Name Renewal Waiting For e-Payment” will be sent to your registered email address. Meanwhile the “Paid” button on “My Renew Requests” page will be activated to allow you to process the ePayement (Please refer “Guideline on e-Payment” for detailed information.).
If you prefer to pay by cash or cheque/bank draft, please click on the “Done” button after submitting the renewal application. Then please prepare a cheque/bank draft payable to "Direcção dos Serviços de Correios e Telecomunicações" and submit it to our office. The renewal fee for each domain name is MOP200 per year. Please be informed that the bank charge for each oversea bank cheque / bank draft should be included in the payment (the amount of bank charge is subject to decision of receiving bank).
If the renewal fee has been submitted already, click the "Done" button to complete all the domain renewal procedures.
If your domain name renewal is approved, an email notification with subject “Domain Name Renewal Application Completed” will be sent to your email address.

Password Reset for Domain Name Registration Account

From the MONIC website, click on the tab “Login” and then click on the link “Forget Password”;
Fill in your “Profile Name” and the “Challenging Code” and click on the “Submit” button to the password reset page. Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “.MO Account Password Reset” will be sent to your email address.
Check your mailbox, and click the activation link in the email. Then, recheck your mailbox, you can now use the “Password Reset Code” stated in the email to logon the system. Note: “Password Reset Code” will be valid only ONCE. Once you successfully logon the system, you are required to setup a new password and the password reset code will no longer valid.
Meanwhile, an email notification with subject “Password Changed Notification” will be sent to your email address to confirm the password has been reset successfully.
